Savor A Sonoran Feast From Phoenix’s Award-Winning Chef at Bacanora

Chef Rene Andrade’s mission is to share his culinary heritage from his home state of Mexico: Sonora. His Phoenix-based restaurant, Bacanora (the name refers to the agave-based spirit from Sonora) quickly made an impact on diners and critics—with wood-fired cooking and unabashed flavors, the result of Andrade’s deft culinary skills and passion for his craft.
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Andrade will share his signature Bacanora recipes, bringing the spirit of Sonora, Mexico, to New York City.

About Rene Andrade:
Born and raised in Nogales, Sonora, Rene Andrade discovered his culinary passion at a young age. His internationally recognized concepts in Phoenix, Arizona include Bacanora and his latest project Huarachis Taqueria. Rene has been nominated for multiple awards including the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in 2022 and the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest in 2023. He was the winner of the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest in 2024.



Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.

James Beard Foundation events permit guests age 21 years and older to attend events where alcoholic beverages are served.

Reservation Policy:

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund.
