U.K.-based celebrity chef Romy Gill has gained an international following for her accessible and innovative approach to Indian cuisine. From appearances on television shows, radio programs, and beloved cookbooks including Zaika – Vegan Recipes from India and On The Himalayan Trail, Gill has established herself as a prominent figure in the culinary world, with her commitment to showcasing India’s vibrant culinary heritage. Her latest book, Romy Gill’s India is her most personal account of recipes thus far. Through ancestral kitchens in the Bengal and Punjab region, Gill shares her version of Indian home cooking. Join Gill at Platform for a demonstration and tasting of dishes from Romy Gill’s India that will take participants through a culinary journey of the flavors that defined her childhood.

About Romy Gill: 
Romy Gill is a celebrity and renowned Indian chef, food and travel writer, and broadcaster based in the south-west of England. With a passion for culinary excellence, she first gained recognition as the owner and head chef at Romy's Kitchen.
As a highly sought-after TV chef, Gill has captivated audiences on various television programs including BBC1's Ready Steady Cook and NBC's The Today Show.
She regularly shares her culinary insights through platforms such as BBC Food, The Telegraph, and The Sunday Times. Her expertise has been featured in national and international publications, including Savuer, The New York Times, and Food 52.
Gill’s passion for sharing her love of Indian cuisine extends to her acclaimed cookbooks. In September 2019, she released her debut cookbook, Zaika – Vegan Recipes from India, which captivated readers with its innovative and flavourful plant-based recipes. Building on this success, Gill’s second book, On The Himalayan Trail, was published to wide acclaim in spring of 2022. Her newest book, Romy Gill’s India was released in September 2024.



Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund.
